Cabo, Cabo, Cabo!!!!

The end of June always marks on event my family and I look forward to... the yearly trip to Cabo San Lucas. This year I was able to bring Rick along. It was his first journey south of the border and he took it all in. We joined Mike, my mom, Paul and my sister Ashley.

DAY ONE:
Our pilgrimage to paradise started off with quite the sense of humor. Our plan.... relaxation and a good tan... we could almost smell the cool ocean breeze and the pina coladas the second we took our seats on the plane... but quickly we realized that wonderful smell was an odor... seeping out of the airplane bathroom. Our seat was positioned conveniently one row in front of lavatories. And the pungent pee-eew got worse as the flight went on and the line grew! It was something Rick and I laughed about the whole flight.

Upon arrival to the international airport in Los Cabos... the bathroom blunder was long forgotten... we stepped of the plane with a new outlook... happy memories... and of course happy hour.

Our first stop on our way to our hotel has become a yearly tradition: THE ONE AND ONLY!
The Palmilla, better known as the place where Hollywood types go to escape, is one of the most amazing places on the planet. The setting sings luxury, relaxation and loads of money!

We enjoy one margarita as a family before heading off to our respective hotel. If you are on a budget... just one marg may break the bank, but the view is breath-taking.

Upon arrival at the lovely, quaint and always quiet Sol Mar the fun begins! Rick was surprised that this was our view...

The Sol Mar sits beachfront along the Pacific Ocean.
From our patio you could watch the waves crash on shore.

Happy Hour Begins!!!!

Once Rick was ready... we assumed our positions poolside!
Two for One- Miami Vice, Corona, Tecate, Margarita

Happy Hour Continued For the Next Four Days!

It's Dinner Time--- EDITH'S

Our Family had never tried the restaurant Edith's.

It was located off our beaten path and reservations were hard to come by. we decided to give it a try having heard great things.

We waited a while for our table, even though we did have reservations. While we were waiting we were watching people and a familiar face walked in. It was Denver Broncos Head Coach Mike Shanahan. I thought my sister Ashley's head was going to spin, being the huge Denver Broncos fan that she is. It was quite the treat for all of us really.

This was probably one of my favorite nights in Cabo. We were all so excited to be in Mexico, we sat in this fantastic area that doubled as the restaurants wine cellar and the food was AMAZING!
I would urge any Cabo traveler to give Edith's a try.

You can see all of the wine bottles and our table, though the picture really doesn't do it justice.

The walk-about around the Cabo watering holes is always a good way to spend the day!

On this day, it is all about seeing the sites... unfortunately it also meant.. tequilla!
Our tour of drinking quickly began at our FAVORITE BAR ... It's known as the world's smallest bar... It's name is quite fitting... as "Slims Elbow Room" can hardly fit anyone into the bar.
"Slims" comfortably seats four at the very short bar, and anyone else who wants to congregate around the cuervo better be prepared to be sardined.... because really there is no elbow room in this tiny room. I am pretty sure this bar was once a storage closet, but it makes for the best stop on the trip. You can buy a t-shirt or a hat for ten dollars and YOU GET A FREE SHOT of tequila. While its not my favorite "poison" I always choose not to be too picky.

From "Slims" we migrated to another bar where my mom, sister and I have our annual Lemon drop... this year however we had three!

From there we stumbled our way through the cobblestone streets to the marina where we hailed a water taxi to Madano Beach... we refer to this location as Loco Beach... that's Spanish for Crazy Beach...Believe me, it has earned its title... its where we go to people watch because the clothing is limited and the thongs and tequila shots are plentiful. This year, our family got a little carried away... and it began with three shots of tequila so kindly ordered by my mom. "When in Rome" became the moto of the day!

Of course the rest of our Mexican Journey kept with the same intentions... relax, unwind, and let the good times roll!
We cannot wait until we are back next year!!!
